The Cruyff Turn is considered the signature soccer trick of the Dutch Johan Cruyff. He used the Cruyff Turn for the first time when he played for Holland against Sweden. From that moment, many other players started to use the Cruyff Turn.

The Cruyff Turn is used to make a very quick turn. That makes the Cruyff Turn very useful in all sorts of situations. For example, you can beat an opponent with it. But you can also buy yourself some time, needed to make a pass.

The Cruyff Turn is exceptionally useful for wingers that are cornered.

In Steps


Use the Cruyff Turn when you have to make a quick turn. You can use it from a stationary position, but it's even more effective and surprising while dribbling.

Step 1
When you want to turn around, put your right foot next to the ball.

Step 2
Feint a shot or a pass with your left foot.

Step 3
Instead of shooting or passing, use the inside of your left foot to drag the ball the other way.

Step 4
Turn your upper body around as well and accelerate.

Tips and Advices


You should train the Cruyff Turn with both feet.

Practice the feint in step 2 to make the Cruyff Turn even more unpredictable.

In step 4, try to turn your shoulders and hips around. This will make your turn faster.

Bend your knees throughout the whole soccer trick. This increases your agility and pace.

Don't use it trick too often. At first, this move is unpredictable. But later on, your opponent will know what you're up to.
