The Nutmeg

A Nutmeg is a technique or move you use to play the ball through the opponent's legs. A Tunnel and a Panna are other words to describe a Nutmeg. In Holland, the best street soccer players compete in a Panna-knockout. This is a tournament with a small soccer ball where two players play against each other. The player that Nutmegs the other, wins. Performing a Nutmeg on another player, is considered a humiliation for the other. It also proves your own skills. Thats why a lot of young amateur soccer players try to Nutmeg each other. A Nutmeg can be executed in many ways. Im going to learn you the most basic Nutmeg. You can customize it yourself. Ill add variations on the basic Nutmeg later on.

Tips and Advices

Wait until your opponent stands sideways in step 5. In a normal situation, the front leg will be the standing leg. This could change when your opponent walks backwards. Execute the Nutmeg (step 5) when your opponent stops or starts to walk backwards to defend. 'Attack' the front foot (video). Your opponent can't make a fast turn when his weight is on his front leg. Use the Nutmeg only once or twice in a match. Its really humiliating and your opponent might try to take revenge. A Nutmeg can easily go wrong. Don't try to Nutmeg your opponent when it's too risky.
